Learn to Read

Ms. A.'s Learn to Read tutoring program uses a multisensory approach that incorporates sight, sound, touch and movement to link sounds to words and meaning. The approach is very systematic. Each step in the program includes a mastery assessment and reteaching strategies. The program includes listening, comprehension, and writing.

Multisensory Learning

Ms. A. uses a multisensory, phonics based approached to teach reading.

Multisensory learning involves using multiple senses such as sight, hearing, and touch also known as visual, auditory, and kinesthetic-tactile elements. By incorporating all senses into the learning process different parts of the brain are activated simultaneously, enhancing memory and learning. This provides more ways for understanding new information and more ways to recall it when needed.

Experienced Teacher

Ms. A has a Masters Degree in Special Education and over 20 years experience teaching. She has seen first hand the excitement and engagement students have when working 1:1 and in small group tutoring sessions that employ multisensory curriculum. Ms A. is credentialed and certified by the state of California to teach reading.

Summer Programs

Ms. A. will work with your summer plans to create a tutoring schedule that works for your family. The summer is a great time for struggling readers to pull ahead, and for enrichment.

After School Programs

It may only take an extra 30 minutes a couple times a week for you and your child's teacher to notice an improvement. Children have better focus in 1:1 tutoring session than in a classroom full of distractions. Students who practice outside of tutoring sessions progress faster, therefore Ms. A. provides assignments to be completed inbetween sessions.
